62c126db6b libstdc++: Implement C++26 P3378R2 - constexpr exception types
The following patch attempts to implement the C++26 P3378R2 - constexpr
exception types paper.

This is quite complicated, because most of these classes which should
be constexpr-ized use solely or mostly out of line definitions in
libstdc++, both for historical, code size and dual ABI reasons, so that
one can throw these as exceptions between TUs with old vs. new (or vice
versa) ABIs.
For this reason, logic_error/runtime_error and classes derived from it
have the old ABI std::string object inside of them and the exported
APIs from libstdc++.so.6 ensure the right thing.

Now, because new invoked during constant evaluation needs to be deleted
during the same constant evaluation and can't leak into the constant
expressions, I think we don't have to use COW strings under the hood
(which aren't constexpr I guess because of reference counting/COW) and
we can use something else, the patch uses heap allocated std::string
object (where __cow_constexpr_string class has just a pointer to that).
As I think we still want to hide the ugly details if !consteval in the
library, the patch exports 8 __cow_string class symbols (6 existing which
were previously just not exported and 2 new ones) and if !consteval
calls those through extern "C" _Zmangled_name symbols. The functions
are always_inline.

And then logic_error etc. have for C++26 (precisely for
__cpp_lib_constexpr_exceptions >= 202502L) constexpr definitions of
cdtors/methods. This results in slightly larger code (a few insns at most)
at runtime for C++26, e.g. instead of calling say some logic error
cdtor/method with 2 arguments it calls some __cow_string one with 2
arguments but + 8 bytes pointer additions on both.

The patch also removes the __throw_format_error forward declaration
which apparently wasn't needed for anything as all __throw_format_error
users were either in <format> or included <format> before the uses,
reverts the
https://gcc.gnu.org/pipermail/libstdc++/2025-July/062598.html
patch and makes sure __throw_* functions (only those for exception types
which the P3378R2 or P3068R5 papers made constexpr usable and there are
actually constexpr/consteval uses of those) are constexpr for C++26
constexpr exceptions.

The patch does that by splitting the bits/functexcept.h header:
1) bits/functexcept.h stays for the __throw_* functions which are (at
least for now) never constexpr (the <ios>, <system_error>, <future>
and <functional> std::exception derived classes) or are never used
or never used in constexpr/consteval contexts (<exception>, <typeinfo>
std::exception derived classes and std::range_error).
2) bits/new_{throw,except}.h for __throw_bad_alloc/__throw_bad_array_new_length
and std::bad_alloc/std::bad_array_new_length (where <new> includes
<bits/new_except.h> and <bits/new_throw.h> as well for the C++26 constexpr
exceptions case)
3) for the most complicated <stdexcept> stuff, one header
addition to bits/stdexcept.h one header for the __throw_logic_error etc.
forward declarations, one header for the __throw_logic_error etc.
definitions and one header without header guards which will
depending on __glibcxx_exc_in_string include one or the other because
<string> vs. <string_view> vs. <stdexcept> have heavy interdependencies

3aeb2edee2 libstdc++: Skip redundant assertions in std::array equality [PR106212]
As PR c++/106212 shows, the Debug Mode checks cause a compilation error
for equality comparisons involving std::array prvalues in constant
expressions. Those Debug Mode checks are redundant when
comparing two std::array objects, because we already know we have a
valid range. We can also avoid the unnecessary step of using
std::__niter_base to do __normal_iterator unwrapping, which isn't needed
because our std::array iterators are just pointers. Using
std::__equal_aux1 instead of std::equal avoids the redundant checks in
std::equal and std::__equal_aux.

libstdc++-v3/ChangeLog:

	PR libstdc++/106212
	* include/std/array (operator==): Use std::__equal_aux1 instead
	of std::equal.
	* testsuite/23_containers/array/comparison_operators/106212.cc:
	New test.

63a598deb0 libstdc++: #ifdef out #pragma GCC system_header
In r15-3714-gd3a7302ec5985a I added -Wsystem-headers to the libstdc++ build
flags to help catch problems in the library. This patch takes a different
approach, of disabling the #pragma system_header unless _GLIBCXX_SYSHDR is
defined. As a result, the testsuites will treat them as non-system-headers
to get better warning coverage during regression testing of both gcc and
libstdc++, not just when building the library.

My rationale for the #ifdef instead of just removing the #pragma is the
three G++ tests that want to test libstdc++ system header behavior, so we
need a way to select it.

This doesn't affect installed libraries, as they get their
system-header status from the lookup path. But testsuite_flags
--build-includes gives -I directives rather than -isystem.

This patch doesn't change the headers in config/ because I'm not compiling
with most of them, so won't see any warnings that need fixing. Adjusting
them could happen later, or we can not bother.

510ce5eed6 libstdc++: Fix std::to_array for trivial-ish types [PR115522]
Due to PR c++/85723 the std::is_trivial trait is true for types with a
deleted default constructor, so the use of std::is_trivial in
std::to_array is not sufficient to ensure the type can be trivially
default constructed then filled using memcpy.

I also forgot that a type with a deleted assignment operator can still
be trivial, so we also need to check that it's assignable because the
is_constant_evaluated() path can't use memcpy.

Replace the uses of std::is_trivial with std::is_trivially_copyable
(needed for memcpy), std::is_trivially_default_constructible (needed so
that the default construction is valid and does no work) and
std::is_copy_assignable (needed for the constant evaluation case).

libstdc++-v3/ChangeLog:

	PR libstdc++/115522
	* include/std/array (to_array): Workaround the fact that
	std::is_trivial is not sufficient to check that a type is
	trivially default constructible and assignable.

7ffa63df8f libstdc++: Only declare feature test macros in standard headers
This change moves the definitions of feature test macros (or strictly
speaking, the requests for <bits/version.h> to define them) so that only
standard headers define them. For example, <bits/shared_ptr.h> will no
longer define macros related to std::shared_ptr, only <memory> and
<version> will define them. This means that __cpp_lib_shared_ptr_arrays
will not be defined by <future> or by other headers that include
<bits/shared_ptr.h>. It will only be defined when <memory> has been
included. This will discourage users from relying on transitive
includes.

As a result, internal headers that need to query the macros should use
the internal macros like __glibcxx_shared_ptr_arrays instead of
__cpp_lib_shared_ptr_arrays, as those internal macros are defined by the
internal headers after icluding <bits/version.h>. There are some
exceptions to this rule, because __cpp_lib_is_constant_evaluated is
defined by bits/c++config.h and so is available everywhere, and
__cpp_lib_three_way_comparison is defined by <compare> which several
headers are explicitly specified to include, so its macro is guaranteed
to be usable too.

N.B. not many internal headers actually need an explicit include of
<bits/version.h>, because most of them include <type_traits> and so get
all the __glibcxx_foo internal macros from there.

77cf377302 libstdc++: Prevent unwanted ADL in std::to_array [PR111512]
As noted in PR c++/111512, GCC does ADL for __builtin_memcpy if it is
unqualified, which can cause errors for template argument types which
cannot be completed.

Casting the memcpy arguments to void* prevents ADL from considering the
problem type.

960de5dd88 libstdc++: Optimize std::to_array for trivial types [PR110167]
As reported in PR libstdc++/110167, std::to_array compiles extremely
slowly for very large arrays. It needs to instantiate a very large
specialization of std::index_sequence<N...> and then create a very large
aggregate initializer from the pack expansion. For trivial types we can
simply default-initialize the std::array and then use memcpy to copy the
values. For non-trivial types we need to use the existing
implementation, despite the compilation cost.

As also noted in the PR, using a generic lambda instead of the
__to_array helper compiles faster since gcc-13. It also produces
slightly smaller code at -O1, due to additional inlining. The code at
-Os, -O2 and -O3 seems to be the same. This new implementation requires
__cpp_generic_lambdas >= 201707L (i.e. P0428R2) but that is supported
since Clang 10 and since Intel icc 2021.5.0 (and since GCC 10.1).

libstdc++-v3/ChangeLog:

	PR libstdc++/110167
	* include/std/array (to_array): Initialize arrays of trivial
	types using memcpy. For non-trivial types, use lambda
	expressions instead of a separate helper function.
	(__to_array): Remove.

56001fad4e libstdc++: Fix ambiguous expression in std::array<T, 0>::front() [PR110139]
For 32-bit targets using -pedantic (or using Clang) makes the expression
_M_elems[0] ambiguous. The overloaded operator[] that we want to call
has a size_t parameter, but 0 is type ptrdiff_t for many ILP32 targets,
so using the implicit conversion from _M_elems to T* and then
subscripting that is also viable.

Change the 0 to (size_type)0 and also make the conversion to T*
explicit, so that's it's not viable here. The latter change requires a
static_cast in data() where we really do want to convert _M_elems to a
pointer.

libstdc++-v3/ChangeLog:

	PR libstdc++/110139
	* include/std/array (__array_traits<T, 0>::operator T*()): Make
	conversion operator explicit.

ef8d5ac08b libstdc++: Simplify std::array accessors [PR104719]
This removes the __array_traits::_S_ref and __array_traits::_S_ptr
accessors, which only exist to make the special case of std::array<T, 0>
syntactically well-formed.

By changing the empty type used as the std::array<T, 0>::_M_elems data
member to support operator[] and conversion to a pointer, we can write
code using the natural syntax. The indirection through _S_ref and
_S_ptr is removed for the common case, and a function call is only used
for the special case of zero-size arrays.

The invalid member access for zero-sized arrays is changed to use
__builtin_trap() instead of a null dereference. This guarantees a
runtime error if it ever gets called, instead of undefined behaviour
that is likely to get optimized out as unreachable.

74d14778e7 libstdc++: Define std::__is_constant_evaluated() for internal use
This adds std::__is_constant_evaluated() as a C++11 wrapper for
__builtin_is_constant_evaluated, but just returning false if the
built-in isn't supported by the compiler. This allows us to use it
throughout the library without checking __has_builtin every time.

Some uses in std::vector and std::string can only be constexpr when the
std::is_constant_evaluated() function actually works, so we might as
well guard them with a relevant macro and call that function directly,
rather than the built-in or std::__is_constant_evaluated().

The remaining checks of the __cpp_lib_is_constant_evaluated macro could
now be replaced by checking __cplusplus >= 202002 instead, but there's
no practical difference. We still need some kind of preprocessor check
there anyway.

Also define the _Nth_type primary template as a complete type (but with
no nested 'type' member). This avoids "invalid use of incomplete type"
errors for out-of-range specializations of tuple_element. Those errors
would probably be confusing and unhelpful for users. We already have
a user-friendly static assert in tuple_element itself.

Also ensure that tuple_size_v is available whenever tuple_size is (as
proposed by LWG 3387). We already do that for tuple_element_t.

261d5a4a45 libstdc++: Reduce header dependencies on <array> and <utility>
This refactoring reduces the memory usage and compilation time to parse
a number of headers that depend on std::pair, std::tuple or std::array.
Previously the headers for these class templates were all intertwined,
due to the common dependency on std::tuple_size, std::tuple_element and
their std::get overloads. This decouples the headers by moving some
parts of <utility> into a new <bits/utility.h> header. This means that
<array> and <tuple> no longer need to include the whole of <utility>,
and <tuple> no longer needs to include <array>.

This decoupling benefits headers such as <thread> and <scoped_allocator>
which only need std::tuple, and so no longer have to parse std::array.

Some other headers such as <any>, <optional> and <variant> no longer
need to include <utility> just for the std::in_place tag types, so
do not have to parse the std::pair definitions.

Removing direct uses of <utility> also means that the std::rel_ops
namespace is not transitively declared by other headers.

91cfacc4b5 libstdc++: Disable std::array assertions for C++11 constexpr
The recent changes to add assertions to std::array broke the functions

2f983fa690 libstdc++: Fix three-way comparison for std::array [PR 96851]
The spaceship operator for std::array uses memcmp when the
__is_byte<value_type> trait is true, but memcmp isn't usable in
constexpr contexts. Also, memcmp should only be used for unsigned byte
types, because it gives the wrong answer for signed chars with negative
values.

We can simply check std::is_constant_evaluated() so that we don't use
memcmp during constant evaluation.

To fix the problem of using memcmp for inappropriate types, this patch
adds new __is_memcmp_ordered and __is_memcmp_ordered_with traits. These
say whether using memcmp will give the right answer for ordering
operations such as lexicographical_compare and three-way comparisons.
The new traits can be used in several places, and can also be used to
implement my suggestion in PR 93059 comment 37 to use memcmp for
unsigned integers larger than one byte on big endian targets.
